Streams' est le troisième album
de Norscq'
après 'Lavatronic' (2000) et son cousin 'Lavatron.X' (2002).
En 2001, Norscq a commencé à travailler de manière
intensive pour Ibrahim Quraishi, metteur en scène US pakistanais
de la Compagnie Faim de Siècle, composant la musique de nombreuses
performances.
En 2004, ils participèrent à un projet spécial intitulé
'Baburnama' réalisé au Japon et en Inde qui s'est avéré
être un flop artistique à cause de mauvaises intentions artistiques
et autres malsaines pressions politiques de la part des commissionnaires
et en 2005 et 2006, la Compagnie Faim de Siècle a réalisé
aux USA le spectacle '5 streams' toujours en action.
Ces deux spectacles utilisent des textes anciens des traditions islamiques
et hindoues et sont issus des ruminations personnelles d'Ibrahim Quaraishi
sur un monde déchiré par les conflits et rassemblé
par des histoires et identités communes. Dans le spectacle '5 streams',
sons explosifs, voix hypnotiques, vidéo live et installation de
corps offrent un voyage sensoriel complet au travers des croyances, mythologies
et des complexes polarités culturelles de l'Asie du Sud moderne.
Le travail explore les philosophies, visions artistiques et histoires
sous-jacentes et communes, trop souvent survolées, qui continuent
à réunir les peuples de cette vaste et dynamique région.
Tout au long de la transformation de l'espace, il se tisse une narration
non linéaire dans la distorsion délinéante du temps
et des distances. Le public est emmené au travers de 3 espaces
distincts où voix jouées, mouvements, electronica contemporaine,
performance et installations engloutissantes s'entrelacent avec dévotions
et pratiques traditionnelles pour créer une synergie sonique au
sein des cultures contemporaines avec leurs trajectoires historiques confondantes
débordant sur les mythologies 'pop' d'aujourd'hui.
Pendant l'été 2006 Norscq a retravaillé sur les matériels
qu'il avait composé pour ces deux spectacles en éditant,
re-composant, mixant et mélangeant certains d'entre eux ensembles
pour arriver à des morceaux nouveaux, ré-arrangeant, enregistrant
nouveaux instruments et voix. L'album '5 streams' est un vrai disque de
musique originale, ayant sa propre vie au-delà des spectacles et
loin des compilations de bandes originales, qui inclut de nombreux enregistrements
réalisés sur place avec les performeurs et aussi quelques
amis musiciens français.
Il semble que '5 streams' se révèle être une synthèse
et un point de ralliement parfait des précédents travaux
de Norscq que ce soit sous son son nom ou encore sous le les noms de The
Atlas Project et The Grief ouvrant de nouveaux horizons pour les travaux
à venir, à commencer par 'Snorkling', prochain album qui
sera réalisé et sortira en 2007/2008.

Streams' is Norscq's
third album after 'Lavatronic' (2000) and its cousin 'Lavatron.X' (2002).
In 2001, Norscq started to work intensively for Ibrahim Quraishi, US pakistani
director of Compagnie Faim de Siècle scoring several performances.
In 2004, they both took part in a special project produced in Japan and
India called 'Baburnama' which turned into an artictic flop due to bad
artistico-political intentions and pressure from the commissioners and
in 2005 and 2006, Compagnie Faim de Siècle produced '5 streams'
show in the US which is still in action.
Both using ancient texts from Islamic and Hindu traditions, they are Ibrahim
Quraishi's personal ruminations on a world torn apart by conflicts and
brought together by shared histories and identities. In '5 streams' show,
explosive sounds, hypnotic voices, live video, and installation of bodies
offer a full-sensory journey through the beliefs, mythologies, and complex
cultural polarities of modern South Asia. The work explores the underlying—and
too often overlooked—shared stories, philosophies and the diverse
artistic visions that continue to unite the people of a vast dynamic region.
Through the transformation of space, it weaves a non linier narrative
in delineating the distortion of time and distance. The audience is led
through three distinct spaces where live voice, movement, contemporary
electronica, performance and immersive installations are intertwined with
traditional devotional practices to create a sonic synergy within contemporary
cultures and their confounding historical trajectories spilling over to
"pop" mythologies of today.
During summer 2006 Norscq worked a lot on the material he composed for
those two shows, editing, re-composing, mixing and melting some of them
together to get brand new pieces, re-arranging, recording new instruments
and vocals.
'5 streams' album is a real original music record, having its own life
apart from the shows and far from soundtrack compilations involving a
lot of performers recordings made in situation and also some French friend-musicians.
It seems that '5 streams' turns into a perfect meeting point and synthesis
of Norscq's previous works either under his name or under the names of
The Atlas Project and The Grief opening new horizons for future works
starting with his next album to be composed and released in 2007/2008,
'Snorkling'
